About Private Lessons (Sign Up Below)
The private lesson program is an optional program to augment the instruction received in instrument classroom study. It has proven to be a most efficient and thorough method of developing the student's talent. The opportunity to study with an accomplished musician is an invaluable asset. Private lessons are strongly encouraged for all students and are a vital ingredient for any successful musician. Private study affords the opportunity for in-depth study of the pedagogy and literature related to a student’s instrument. Students work on fundamentals of performance, building good playing habits, preparing audition or solo material and for enrichment outside of band class.
Instructors are recommended through the Director of Fine Arts and are allowed to use school facilities in order to provide a service to both the school music program and the students. These instructors may be public school music teachers, professional musicians, or advanced music students from the various universities in our area.
The fee for each lesson will be $27.00 weekly. All financial arrangements will be made individually with the private lesson teacher and fees will be paid directly to him/her.
If you are interested in signing up for private lessons, please complete the form online (found below). Your information will be sent to an appropriate lesson teacher who will contact you to set up a lesson time.
RTMS will have a full staff of private lesson instructors. To ensure continuity of concepts and to enable the band directors to more closely monitor your child’s progress, it is recommended that your child take lessons from one of the RTMS private lesson staff.
